Special recommendations

In order to work properly, a Smeg dishwasher needs to be connected to stable electricity and water supply. It’s also necessary to check and clean the machine’s drains in time, otherwise, a dishwasher may stop due to a blockage. If you hear beeping while trying to use a machine, it may indicate that the machine’s door is not closed properly. Check user manual to find answers to some of the most common questions. A user can get a professional’s consultation or ask for repairs in the company’s client center.

History

Smeg started its way as a small family-operated company. It was founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni. The company specialized on enameling and metalwork. However, soon it started to produce its own appliances for homes and farms.

Having lots of competitors, Bertazzoni tried to present innovative and unique products. In 1956 the company presented its first line of kitchen appliances known under the name ‘Elizabeth’. The line included automatic ovens with a safety system and gas ranges with automatic ignition.

In the 1960s the company became popular after presenting a line of its dishwashers. They had a unique and unusual design that stays a special feature of the company even today. The first Smeg dishwashers were 60cm wide and had a capacity for 14 sets of dishes. In the 1970s the innovative dishwashers entered the world’s market, becoming a real sensation.

In 1997 Smeg started a line of retro-styled appliances including dishwashing machines. All appliances had a wide range of up-to-date features, however, repeated the first original design of the company’s products. The dishwashers of the line were presented in pink, yellow, orange, and lime colors had rounded corners and chunky handles. The company also branded the products of the retro line with an old version of the Smeg logo.

Starting from 2007 Smeg has received more than 15 awards of the global meaning. While staying a family-operated company, the manufacturer keeps developing and surviving harsh competition on the market of electric appliances.
